We are sisters who grew up in Southern Oregon in a subsistence-based lifestyle fostered by our parents as part of the back-to-the-land movement of the early 1970s. We grew up very connected with the earth and communal life, away from many modern conveniences. Golden was the first in our family to attend and graduate college, followed up by Oriana, and both are passionate lifelong learners. We sometimes find it extremely humorous that we are now launching an online-based business, and learning all new skills at this point in our life given our background. We often joke that we are two hippie-kids taking on the internet. We are excited to be working on this project together, to pivot in our lives and pursue knowledge in which we have no formal background- and to be doing it together.
Oriana Turley - Co-Founder & CEO
I am the co-founder of Medicine Mountain Scrub Company and a Neurology and Orthopedic Registered Nurse in Missoula, Montana. I spent my twenties working and playing in the outdoors: teaching whitewater kayaking, raft guiding, backcountry hiking, snowboarding, and farming. As I approached 30 I graduated from nursing school, bought a home in the Bitterroot Valley and married my longtime partner Charlie.
I’ve spent the last 8 years splitting time between the mountains of Montana and Baja California Sur, cultivating a life where I can work hard and play harder. Becoming a mother in 2018 has been an integral part of deciding to start my own business. My little lady has taught me much about what I want out of life, how I wish to spend my time on this earth and why it is so important to just do the damn thing. Our company ethos is centered around supporting women in their best selves, their wildest dreams, and the importance of economic independence. I am determined to ensure my daughter knows her power, that she is capable of anything if she works hard, is persistent and lives in-tune with her values. The greatest gift I can give is to show her how to be a #galwithgrit.
Golden Rogers - Co-Founder & COO
I am Oriana’s older sister and biggest fan and supporter. She asked me to join her in this adventure in the Fall of 2019 and it was an opportunity I could not pass on. I have gone in many different directions throughout my life and I was excited at the chance to not only work with my sister but also to be a part in creating a company with values rooted in women supporting women, giving back to the environment, and rethinking the future of sustainability in the fashion industry.
I live in Medford, Oregon with my two sons and my Science Teacher husband Sean. I worked full-time at the county library, but went down to part-time once I joined Medicine Mountain Scrub Company in the Fall.
